To get him to back off, Jules took a knife pointing at him and then cuts herself. He begins to shout and taunt her, let's her know that he'd be willing to give her 'attention' and then ends up threatening her. It's not made clear if he recognizes her as the girl who rode the bike. When Nate sees Maddy having sex in the pool, he storms into the kitchen and Jules immediately catches his eye. She quickly dresses and leaves.Īfter her rendezvous with DominantDaddy, Jules wind up at the party at McKay's home. When he taking a shower after sex, his phone buzzes on the bedside table, when she picks it up, the lock screen is a studio portrait of him with what looks like his wife and young sons. He asked her how old she is and she lies about her age and has rough sex with him. Upon arriving at the motel for their rendezvous, she has second thoughts, but he sends her a photo of a wine bottle and two glasses, so she walks to the room's door and knocks on the door. She cancelled her plans to meet up with Kat at the party. When she got home, she went on a dating app and agreed to meet with a man with the username DominantDaddy. Nate catcalled to her, and she flipped him off, showing him her middle finger, causing her and her bike to fall to the ground. While she was riding her bike by Nate’s truck, he and McKay were discussing the party. At summer school, she made friends with Kat, who invited her to McKay’s party. Jules is new to the town, she lives with her father who got custody of her after the divorce. While attending summer school for Intro to Visual Arts, she befriended Kat Hernandez. A couple weeks before the events of Euphoria, Jules and her father moved to a new town. While attending her old school, Jules met and befriended a person named TC who introduces her to Anna. They have a good bond and she has a seemingly good home life with her father. After her mother's addiction became worse, and she was sent away to rehab, Jules' father quit his job in order to be closer to her and supported his daughter throughout her transition. This incident strongly affected the already strained relationship between them due to Amy's alcohol and drug abuse, which made Jules very distrustful towards her.Īfter recovering, Jules began to transition at age 13, and at the age of 16, she began to explore her sexuality with a rotating set of men she met online according to Rue, they were always "cis, white, in a long-term relationships, and claimed to be 100% straight". Since Jules was about seven or eight, she dealt with bouts of depression, anxiety, and self-harm largely stemming from gender dysphoria, which eventually led to her mother taking her to a psychiatric hospital against her will at age 11. She hated her life, not because it was bad, but because when you hate your brain and your body, it's hard to enjoy the rest. 1.3.2 "Fuck Anyone Who's Not a Sea Blob".

These events consist of sprints, drifting and duel events, in which the latter two feature a majority of destructible guardrails that the player must avoid crashing through or risk losing these respective events as a result. A new element exclusive to Carbon is Canyon events – special racing events styled after Japanese Tōge racing, in which players compete in competitive racing on canyon roads outside the game's main setting. The game operates on the same gameplay mechanics used in previous entries in the series, including its predecessor Most Wanted, though Carbon introduced new elements. The game itself features four game modes – Career, Quick Race, Challenge Series, and Multiplayer – with the latter featuring online gameplay available in all console and PC versions of the game, except the Wii's edition. Racing Events focus on competitive races with other drivers on circuits or point-to-point routes, checkpoint races, and races involving sprints or drifting (the latter being absent in its predecessor), with players able to use Nitrous Oxide and Speedbreaker whenever needed – either to help win races or get out of tight spots – both of which recharge over time. In the game, players take part in illegal street races that focus on different styles of races, utilizing a variety of licensed real-world cars (available at the time of the game's development and release) that can be upgraded and customized with new parts, while contending with the involvement of the police in their efforts to impede the player. Gameplay Overview A heavily modified Audi Le Mans quattro compared to a stock Lamborghini Murciélago LP-640, showing the "Autosculpt" feature of the game. The game was later succeeded by Need for Speed: ProStreet in 2007.Īs of 2021, download versions of the game are no longer available for purchase in any online stores, and online play was shutdown on September 1. A special Collector's Edition version of the title was developed for PlayStation 2, Windows and Xbox 360, and included additional content including new cars, new customization items and new events for two of its game modes. Upon the release of Carbon, the game received positive reviews from critics, though it faced some criticism over elements of its gameplay mechanics, including a lack of emphasis on police chases compared to its predecessor. While the portable games featured similar gameplay to the console version, they included new/modified gameplay elements, a different setting and storyline, and a different selection of AI teammates. While the gameplay is similar to its predecessor, Carbon introduced a number of new features, including crews and racing wingmen, Touge-styled racing events, and greater customization options.Īlongside console, home computer, and arcade versions, the game also received portable editions for the PlayStation Portable, Game Boy Advance, Nintendo DS, and Zeebo, titled Need for Speed: Carbon – Own the City. The game sees players conducting illegal street races within the fictional city of Palmont City, with the game's main story taking place after the events of Need for Speed: Most Wanted and focusing on the player's character taking control of the city from various street-racing gangs. Developed by EA Black Box, Rovio Mobile and published by Electronic Arts, it was released on October 31, 2006, for the PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Xbox, Xbox 360, GameCube, Windows, and Mac OS X, and on Novemas a launch title for the Wii and in 2008 for arcade cabinets. Need for Speed: Carbon is a 2006 racing video game and the tenth installment in the Need for Speed series. Stand in a confident position, make eye contact, and ensure your handshake is ready to close deals. But don’t stop there: Take into account your appearance, and use it to project an appropriate personal image. Improve your ability to communicate effectively, your attitude, and your ability to relax and be yourself. What’s one word you want people to associate with you? Be introspective: Ask yourself how you come across to others and the kinds of interactions you want to have with people. This means you have to decide how you want to be perceived. In an act called thin-slicing, we take a mental snapshot of someone and guess their competence, confidence, and likeability, and that opinion often doesn’t change. Within the initial few seconds of meeting a new person, we decide if we like them - and that first impression stays with us. Didn't have issues with rocks or roots poking up into my foot and the sole provides good traction through muddy uneven terrain (hard-packed dirt, loose/wet rocks, leaves, hills, etc.). I try to run with a midfoot strike and the 10mm drop (less than most other shoes) is appreciated. Maintain your footing when running on rough countryside terrain with the help of the ASICS GEL-VENTURE 6 trail shoe for women. After 2 runs the gel cushioning feels nice underfoot and with the midsole provides good support (love the neutral pronation). Lo and behold, the Asics GEL-Venture 8 in size 10 4E (extra wide) is the widest toe box that I've found in a trail running shoe and the only one that fit reasonably well after trying over a dozen options from Asics, Brooks, New Balance and others (spring 2021). Did Asics really save money by punching one less set of lace holes per shoe? I won't be buying another pair so I guess I hope it was worth it to them to save that money yet lose a customer.įinding wide enough shoes is a never-ending and seemingly ill-fated exercise. I became accustomed to how they fit (or how they use to fit) and now that has changed. but is consistency really too much to ask for? I probably should not care about this issue as much as I do but I've been wearing these shoes for a few years now. Noone should be surprised by the lower quality. A $60 pair of shoes in year 2021 is not going to last very long (and I don't expect them to). The ASICS Gel Venture 6 is one of the best trail running shoes for high arches, as well as neutral runners. Look, these shoes are basically disposable. but they don't provide laces that are long enough to actually use it! Oh, but Asics still provides the "heel lock" hole that I previously mentioned? Yes, they do. The shoe constantly rubs on my heel because the shoe can not be tightened as it used to. A shoe that used to fit perfectly no longer does even though the dimensions of the actual shoe seem the same. not the very last "heel lock" hole but the one before that). In this case, whoever designed the v8 version of this shoe decided to remove the set of lace holes closest to where most people tie their laces (i.e. I really do not understand why manufacturers feel the need or desire to change something that works perfectly. In the case of the COVID-19 vaccines, randomized controlled trials involving tens of thousands of people, which were reviewed by multiple groups of experts, revealed no serious safety issues and showed that the benefits outweigh the risks. to identify adverse events related to vaccination in near real time. The information is still valuable because it’s a way of being quickly alerted to a potential safety issue with a vaccine, which can then be followed-up by government scientists.Īnother monitoring system is the CDC’s Vaccine Safety Datalink, which uses electronic health data from nine health care organizations in the U.S. There is no screening or vetting of the report and no attempt to determine if the vaccine was responsible for the problem. As its website explains, VAERS “is not designed to detect if a vaccine caused an adverse event, but it can identify unusual or unexpected patterns of reporting that might indicate possible safety problems requiring a closer look.”Īnyone can submit a report to VAERS for any health problem that occurs after an immunization. One key vaccine safety surveillance program is the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System, or VAERS, which is an early warning system run by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and FDA. In addition, the Food and Drug Administration inspects vaccine production facilities and reviews manufacturing protocols to make sure vaccine doses are of high-quality and free of contaminants. No vaccine or medical product is 100% safe, but the safety of vaccines is ensured via rigorous testing in clinical trials prior to authorization or approval, followed by continued safety monitoring once the vaccine is rolled out to the public to detect potential rare side effects. He claims he changed to stencilling while hiding from the police under a rubbish lorry, when he noticed the stencilled serial number and by employing this technique, he soon became more widely noticed for his art around Bristol and London. By 2000 he had turned to the art of stencilling after realising how much less time it took to complete a work. During this time he met Bristol photographer Steve Lazarides, who began selling Banksy's work, later becoming his agent. He was inspired by local artists and his work was part of the larger Bristol underground scene with Nick Walker, Inkie and 3D. īanksy started as a freehand graffiti artist in 1990–1994 as one of Bristol's DryBreadZ Crew (DBZ), with two other artists known as Kato and Tes. The imotif was also produced as a series of screenprints titled Bomb Hugger in 2004. See also: List of works by Banksy Early career (1990–2001) A Banksy work from the Bristol underground scene. In October 2014, an internet hoax circulated that Banksy had been arrested and his identity revealed. "I mean, how am I supposed to prove that I'm not somebody who doesn't exist? Just how do you do that?" "I'm being asked to prove who I am not, and the person that I am not may not exist," he said. He subsequently resigned because the speculation was affecting his ability to carry out the duties of a councillor. In 2022, Billy Gannon, a local councillor in Pembroke Dock was rumoured to be Banksy. In 2020, users on Twitter began to speculate that former Art Attack presenter Neil Buchanan was Banksy.Robert Del Naja (also known as 3D), a member of the trip hop band Massive Attack, had been a graffiti artist during the 1980s prior to forming the band, and was previously identified as a personal friend of Banksy.Other speculations on Banksy's identity include the following: In June 2017, DJ Goldie referred to Banksy as "Rob" in an interview for a podcast. Two cassette sleeves featuring his art work from 1993, for the Bristol band Mother Samosa, exist with his signature. According to The Sunday Times, Gunningham began employing the name Robin Banks, which eventually became Banksy. Several of Gunningham's associates and former schoolmates at Bristol Cathedral School have corroborated this, and, in 2016, a study by researchers at the Queen Mary University of London using geographic profiling found that the incidence of Banksy's works correlated with the known movements of Gunningham. The Mail on Sunday claimed in 2008 that Banksy is Robin Gunningham, born on 28 July 1974 in Yate, 12 miles (19 km) from Bristol. In an interview with the BBC in 2003, which was rediscovered in November 2023, reporter Nigel Wrench asked if Banksy is called Robert Banks Banksy responded that his forename is Robbie. Banksy reportedly lived in Easton, Bristol, during the late 1990s, before moving to London around 2000. According to Hattenstone, "anonymity is vital to him because graffiti is illegal". He looks like a cross between Jimmy Nail and Mike Skinner of The Streets." Banksy began as an artist at the age of 14, was expelled from school, and served time in prison for petty crime. In a 2003 interview with Simon Hattenstone of The Guardian, Banksy is described as "white, 28, scruffy casual-jeans, T-shirt, a silver tooth, silver chain and silver earring. Identityīanksy's name and identity remain unconfirmed and the subject of speculation. In 2014, he was awarded Person of the Year at the 2014 Webby Awards. In January 2011, he was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature for the film. Banksy's documentary film Exit Through the Gift Shop (2010) made its debut at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival. A small number of Banksy's works are officially, non-publicly, sold through an agency created by Banksy named Pest Control. Much of his work can be classified as temporary art. Banksy no longer sells photographs or reproductions of his street graffiti, but his public "installations" are regularly resold, often even by removing the wall they were painted on. īanksy displays his art on publicly visible surfaces such as walls and self-built physical prop pieces. Banksy says that he was inspired by 3D, a graffiti artist and founding member of the musical group Massive Attack. Banksy's work grew out of the Bristol underground scene, which involved collaborations between artists and musicians. His works of political and social commentary have appeared on streets, walls and bridges throughout the world. Active since the 1990s, his satirical street art and subversive epigrams combine dark humour with graffiti executed in a distinctive stenciling technique. Banksy is a pseudonymous England-based street artist, political activist and film director whose real name and identity remain unconfirmed and the subject of speculation. : All this did not sit well with Steve Jobs and the other managers at Apple, who thought the Charley Board product was a bit too risky and, besides, they disliked Draper to begin with. He was asking for it, he was looking for trouble. “I tell you,” Condon says, “Draper was the kiss of death. : And as a rule universally agreed upon within their group, they avoided John Draper and his friends like the plague. While he may be an iconic figure in lore, even if undeserved, it is important to better understand what kind of person he was during this time. Given that most of Draper’s modern reputation is based on his ‘discovery’ of the whistle, something he has done nothing to dispel or come clean about, I feel it is important to help set the record straight. We called him ‘Captain’ a lot.” Captain Crunch was born. That’d be a good name.” Engressia immediately liked it. One day Draper and Engressia were talking about using a Cap’n Crunch whistle to make their beloved 2,600 Hz tone, Engressia recalls, when Draper suddenly said, “You know, I think I’ll just call myself Captain Crunch. : (late summer of 1970) It was on one of those conference calls that John Draper discovered a new identity for himself. With Draper in the club the whistle trips expanded. Armed with their Cap’n Crunch whistles Fettgather and Teresi and friends would cluster around pay phones at the airport and go nuts. : Several years earlier a Los Angeles phone phreak named Sid Bernay had discovered you could generate a nice, clean 2,600 Hz tone simply by covering one of the holes in the plastic toy bosun whistle that was given away as a prize in boxes of Cap’n Crunch cereal. Lapsley’s research put him in touch with many players of the time, and the real story emerged: Phil Lapsley wrote a book titled “ Exploding the Phone” that gives an exhaustive history of phone phreaking and is a must read for anyone interested in the topic. While some in the industry have had doubts or heard tale that Draper did not discover the whistle’s significant tone, it wasn’t until last year that we finally got a definitive answer and story. And this isn’t limited to more obscure sites, this ‘fact’ is still repeated by mainstream media articles. These include the Snopes message board, a telephone tribute site, high school papers, and other archival sites. Google around for tales of Draper and the whistle will find a variety of sites that say he discovered it. Air Force to serve as a radio technician was fascinated with telephony and took courses on the subject at college and discovered the whistle that catapulted him to crime, infamy, and misfortune. Parker carried the myth:Ī young man just entering the U.S. Not long after Engressia shared this information with the other phreakers, John Draper discovered that a toy boatswain’s whistle that was included in boxes of Cap’n Crunch cereal in the late 1960s could blow a perfect 2600Hz tone.Įven going back to 1983, a book titled “ Fighting Computer Crime” by Donn B. Even recently, a magazine known for intelligent geeky facts parroted this falsehood: I say ‘almost’ a fact, because so many people believe it, and so many people have written about it as if it were fact. It is almost a ‘fact’ that John Draper, also known as Captain Crunch, discovered that a toy whistle in a box of cereal could be used to make free phone calls. The tl dr cliffnotes: John Draper was not the first to discover that a Cap’n Crunch whistle could be used for phreaking.
